General Assistant – Catering Operative

Location: Crawley (Catering Unit)

Contract Type: Temporary (Employment Business – AVTAV)

Pay: £12.71 per hour
Overtime: 1.25x hourly rate

Shifts: 8-hour shifts (start times between 07:00 – 09:00)
Shift Pattern: 5 out of 7 days or 4 on / 2 off rota

AVTAV is recruiting General Assistants on behalf of a busy airport catering and inflight services operation based in Crawley.

This is a fast-paced production and catering environment supporting aircraft catering operations. You will play a key role in ensuring food preparation, packing, cleaning, and equipment handling tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Washing, sorting, assembling, packing, and positioning aircraft catering equipment
* Processing and stripping trolleys, including offloading and sorting equipment and waste
* Measuring and weighing ingredients according to set specifications
* Supporting food preparation activities within the kitchen
* Packing food liners in accordance with written specifications
* Conducting temperature, quality, and product date checks
* Receiving, handling, and storing incoming goods correctly
* Stock rotation and daily stock counts
* Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of work areas

Candidate Requirements

* Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Good communication skills and a positive attitude
* Able to work effectively as part of a team
* Basic understanding of English (reading and writing)
* Previous experience in catering, production, or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
* Experience in Japanese/Asian kitchen environments is advantageous but not required

* UK criminal record check (CRC)
* Overseas criminal record check (if applicable)
* Full cooperation with compliance and screening procedures
